KINDERGARTEN TEACHER
JOB DESCRIPTION
LOUISVILLE COLLEGIATE SCHOOL
REPORTS TO:
Head of Lower School
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to
teach an integrated day of language arts, mathematics, social
studies, and science to 18 high-achieving boys and girls.
Two kindergarten teachers and one teaching assistant plan
and implement a cognitively-oriented curriculum that supports
the whole child and prepares him/her for continued success
in the primary grades.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

1-3 years of experience teaching 5 and 6 year olds.

Holding high expectations for all students within
a multi-age, multi-ability group

Ability to articulate the practice of developmentally
appropriate teaching and learning within a cognitively-oriented
curriculum.

Ability to collaborate with kindergarten and primary
team members.

Ability to reflect and improve one’s teaching
performance so that all children will succeed.
-
An elementary or early childhood teaching certificate
is preferred.
