Lower School
Collegiate’s Lower School
provides young students, from Junior Kindergarten to
Grade 5, an opportunity to begin building their interpersonal
skills fundamental to our focus on character and academic
skills that students will rely upon in Middle and Upper
School.
Lower School is a wonderful time
of discovery. Students are energetic, have lots
of questions and are eager to learn. Lower School offers
a great opportunity for teachers to build academic skills
in ways that are creative and comfortable, yet disciplined
and stimulating.
Collegiate’s Lower School
teachers are committed to using creative techniques
for instruction that are based in sound educational
theory and research. The core curriculum focuses on
reading and mathematics with the opportunity for regular
instruction in art, music, physical education, computers,
foreign language, and science.
With an average class size of just
15, teachers get to know students individually and are
able to work with them at their own pace.
Lower School is also an opportunity
for students to grow socially. It is customary to see
students hold doors open for their classmates, listen
respectfully when others are speaking and applaud one
another for a job well done.
Collegiate is committed to developing
students of exceptional character whether they are just
beginning their educational journey or preparing for
college.
The Junior
Kindergarten program welcomes young minds to a nurturing
place of social and academic exploration.
