Dr. Elizabeth Rightmyer,
Interim Head of Lower School
For more than 30 years, Dr. Elizabeth Rightmyer has contributed to the development of many early childhood and elementary school programs in the Louisville area.
After starting her teaching career in North Carolina, Dr. Rightmyer taught at St. Francis School before serving the Goshen school as its Head of Lower School. She then led The Chance School as Head of School for eight years, prior to completing her dissertation and becoming a university professor – first with Spalding University, and then, for six years at the University of Louisville. Dr. Rightmyer’s research and consulting work, focusing upon curriculum development, literacy initiatives, and strategic planning, has engaged her since 2005 with Bellarmine University’s School of Education, Harvey-Browne Presbyterian Weekday School, Crums Lane Elementary, and Second Presbyterian Weekday School.
Dr. Rightmyer, who has served as Interim Head of Lower School at Collegiate since August 2009, earned her B.A. from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, an M.Ed. from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and her Ed.D. from the University of Louisville.
