Junior Kindergarten At Collegiate

Louisville Collegiate School is thrilled to announce the opening of a Junior Kindergarten (JK) for the 2008-2009 school year. The JK program will be located on our campus at 2465 Glenmary Avenue.

Collegiate’s Junior Kindergarten provides:

Young students with a nurturing environment and age-appropriate curriculum that establishes the foundation for life-long learning.

A curriculum model that addresses the young child’s developmental needs—social, emotional, physical, aesthetic and cognitive.

An atmosphere that will develop high self-esteem through activities that promote independence and self-confidence.

Access to Collegiate's arts, science, library, physical education, and technology facilities.

“We are excited to be expanding the Collegiate experience to a new age group,” Head of School Scott Prince said. “Our JK initiative will round out a continuous, coordinated developmental span of quality programming and instruction from early childhood through college matriculation on a single campus.”

Lynne Priest joins Collegiate as JK teacher, director

Lynne PriestCollegiate is pleased to announce the appointment of Lynne Priest as its inaugural Junior Kindergarten director and lead instructor. Mrs. Priest brings 16 years of experience in two nationally accredited preschools to Collegiate's early childhood education program.

A graduate of Murray State University, Mrs. Priest began her early childhood teaching career at Adath Jeshurun Preschool before accepting a position at St. Francis Preschool.

In her ten years as a lead classroom instructor within the St. Francis program, Mrs. Priest built a strong reputation for creative curriculum development, establishing a nurturing environment, and preparing her students for a successful transition to strong kindergarten programs throughout the city.

Current and past parents of children under Mrs. Priest's care applaud her passion, creativity, and flexibility:

"Lynne Priest is the most energetic and passionate teacher that both of our sons encountered during their preschool years. Mrs. Priest is exceptional in her ability to provide a nurturing as well as rich, stimulating environment for her students.

Her many years of experience developing and implementing curriculum are obvious as one reads her lessons and/or observes her teaching. Lynne projects an amazing amount of enthusiasm, creativity, and patience for her four-year-old students.

Mrs. Priest communicates extensively with parents about lessons, events and activities through weekly newsletters, notes home and calls when appropriate.

Despite the distinct differences in personality and learning styles between my children, Mrs. Priest was extremely effective in evaluating and meeting their individual needs.

Both of my children loved going to Mrs. Priest's class everyday. She provided them with a wonderful foundation and excitement about learning! I can't wait for my third child to have Mrs. Priest!"

Mrs. Priest and her husband, Tim, live in the Highlands and have two children currently attending college.

Collegiate's Junior Kindergarten program will open its doors in the fall of 2008 on the school's campus in the historic Highlands.

Applications are currently being accepted for a limited number of spaces.
