Admission To Louisville Collegiate School

Collegiate seeks to admit the most mission appropriate students. Mission appropriate students are those applicants the school judges capable of meeting the requirements of the academic program and of making a positive contribution to their classes and community.

Junior Kindergarten & Kindergarten Checklist

  • Application
    Complete and return the application form to the school with the application fee of $50. Students whose applications are received by December 18, 2009 will be considered in the first round of decisions. All first round decisions will be mailed to families no later than February 11, 2010. If space permits, late applications are accepted, and admission continues to be offered to children in our wait pool.

  • Evaluation/Testing
    Kindergarten evaluations with take place on Friday, January 15, 2010.
    Junior Kindergarten evaluations
    will take place February 2, 4 and 5, 2010.
    We will contact you to make an appointment once the application has been submitted. Evaluations last approximately one hour. Make-up or late evaluation appointments are arranged through the Admission Office and are subject to available space.

  • Forms
    Parents are requested to complete the enclosed Parent Statement Form and return it to the school. The Teacher’s Recommendation must be signed by the parent and given to the child’s classroom teacher. Please give the form to your child’s classroom teacher at your earliest convenience. This will allow the teacher to thoughtfully complete and return it to Collegiate School in a timely manner. All forms and student evaluation must be complete in order for the file to be reviewed by the Admission Committee.

  • Financial Assistance
    Collegiate is committed to assisting qualified students to enroll regardless of their families’ ability to pay full tuition. Financial assistance is awarded annually on the basis of financial need as determined by FACTS. A financial assistance decision is a separate deliberation from any admission decisions. Financial assistance applications will be mailed in early December 2009. If you do not receive a FACTS form, please contact the Financial Assistance Office at 502.479.0354. Financial assistance applications should be completed by March 1, 2010, in order to be considered for the first round of allocations.

Notification of the Admission Committee's
first round decisions will be mailed to all families and students no later than February 11, 2010. A file must be complete in order to receive an admission decision.
A complete file is: Application, Application Fee, Teacher Recommendation, Parent Statement and Evaluation. Those who receive a wait pool letter will be contacted at a later date if space becomes available for their child(ren).

Grades 1-5 Checklist

  • Application

  • Evaluation Test
    Grade 1 Applicants—The testing date is Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 9 a.m. All materials will be provided as well as a snack at break time. Please allow 1 1/2 to 2 hours for testing/evaluation. The admission office will contact families of grade 1 applicants to schedule the time for testing/evaluation.
    Grade 2–5 Applicants—The testing date for grade 2–5 applicants is January 9, 2010 at 9 a.m. All materials will be provided as well as a snack at break time. Please allow 2 to 3 hours for testing.

  • Recommendations And Transcripts
    The following forms are to be given to the applicant’s school and must be mailed or faxed directly from the student’s school to Collegiate’s Admission Office.
    Transcript Request form (signed by the parent or guardian).
    Teacher Recommendation form

  • Parent Statement
    Parents are asked to complete and return this form to Collegiate.

  • Student Visit
    Applicants for grades 3–5 are required to visit one school day. Visits are scheduled beginning in September. Please
    call Lynne Age at 479.0378 to schedule your visit today. The purpose of the visit is twofold:
    -- The applicant is able to determine if he/she would feel comfortable attending Collegiate School.
    -- The admission team can gain greater knowledge of the student by observation and personal interview.

  • Financial Aid

Grades 6-12 Checklist

  • Application

  • Evaluation/Testing
    All materials will be provided as well as a snack at break time. Please allow approximately 3 hours for testing.
    The testing date for students entering grades 2 – 8 (includes 6th grade merit testing) is Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 9 a.m. and Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 9 a.m. for students entering grades 9 – 12 (includes 9th grade merit testing).

    Reciprocity with other independent schools: Students also applying to other independent schools are encouraged to inquire about having their Collegiate test results sent to another independent school in lieu of testing twice.

  • Recommendations and Transcripts
