Kathy Nash Cary '72
A
successful caterer, chef, and restaurateur, Kathy Nash Cary
’72 has excelled in a profession that is typically male
dominated and has even been likened to the military. She is
chef and owner of Lilly’s and La Peche restaurants in
Louisville, and has brought national attention to the cuisine
of our region. In 1997, she was named “Great American
Chef” by Gourmet magazine, has received rave reviews
in the New York Times and has appeared on several national
television programs.
Her success has afforded her the opportunity
to give back to her community, which she has done by starting
the “Seed to Table” program at the Cabbage Patch
Settlement—a gardening and culinary program for inner
city children.
“Collegiate not only provided me with
an excellent education, but it instilled that ‘Amazon’
spirit within me as well. That spirit was the desire to set
high goals for myself and the drive and strength to carry
them out.”
