Babs Rodes Robinson ’80
Babs
Rodes Robinson has unlimited devotion for Louisville Collegiate
School, volunteering wherever she sees a need. There is no
job too large or too small from fundraising to polishing silver
trophies. Babs has spent countless hours working to improve
Collegiate for current students, as well as keep alumni involved
in the school community. She is a devoted PR person for the
school. One board member said, “It’s hard to find
something that Babs hasn’t done for Collegiate.”
Presently, Babs is Secretary on the Board
of Trustees Executive Committee. She also recently chaired
the Search Committee that hired Head of School Tom Hobert.
Babs said her work on the Search Committee was a pleasant
experience because the committee really worked together. When
asked what the most challenging aspect of the search was,
she said, “The Search Committee was committed to hearing
from all constituencies. We tried to make sure we were as
inclusive as possible, while coordinating logistics to move
the process forward.”
When asked to comment on the work that Babs
has done for Collegiate, Board of Trustees President Bill
Street said: “I could only wish all Trustees were as
devoted to Collegiate and as enthusiastic about their work
for the school as Babs. Babs first joined the Board as a representative
of the Alumni Association then was elected to the Board. She
has accepted several leadership positions in her work for
the Board, primarily serving as the Chair of the Head of School
Search Committee culminating in the Board ’s unanimous
acceptance of that committee’s recommendation of Tom
Hobert,” he said.
Other ways Babs has worked for Collegiate
include the following: President of the Alumni Association,
member of Capital Campaign Committee, member of Committee
on Trustees, and member of Enrollment and Marketing Committee.
Although Babs has kept herself busy volunteering
for Collegiate, her volunteer work has also been appreciated
by many places outside of Collegiate: Board member of Court
Appointed Special Advocates, Board member of J.B.Speed Art
Museum, Past board member of Filson Historical Society, Kentucky
Regent of George Washington’s Fredericksburg Foundation,
and Co-Chair of Best of St. James Preview Party.
Since Babs attended Collegiate and graduated
in 1980, she has been impressed with how the school as grown
in academic programs, facilities, and enrollment. She and
her husband, Lee, are appreciative they can set their minds
at ease because their three sons attend a school where they
are in good hands and receiving an excellent education.
