The Louisville Collegiate School Distinguished Alumni Award was the vision of the late Mary Rodes Lannert '78, the first co-chair for the selection committee.

The award was created to recognize the achievements of school alumni who display extraordinary leadership and organizational ability; contribute to the advancement of others and the improvement of his or her community; have gained prominence in his or her chosen profession or field of interest; and exhibit the vision, skill, and commitment to make things happen.
