Spring is upon us and flowers are blooming on Collegiate's campus. As the school year comes to a close, we are trying to wrap-up our Annual Fund Campaign and we need your help.
Currently, the overall alumni participation is at 33%. A few of the graduating classes have reached 100% participation this year! Congratulations to the classes of 1933, 1934, 1935, 1936, and 1942 for 100%.
We are only asking for participation this year! Please consider a gift of $10 or $20 to help us achieve our goal!
If you have already donated to the Annual Fund, thank you for your support of Louisville Collegiate School!
If you are interested in learning what your class percentage is and helping your class reach 100%, simply reply to this e-mail. An e-mail and/or phone list can be provided to you so that you can reach your class.

As Louisville Collegiate School looks ahead to the next 100 years, it celebrates a spirit of tradition and innovation maintained by caring faculty and staff, beginning in Junior Kindergarten and continuing for a lifetime.
In order to fund and sustain the exciting endeavors on our campus, we rely on the generosity of our donors through Annual Fund and Capital Campaign solicitations. However there is another way to become a part of the Louisville Collegiate School legacy and at the same time be remembered for your generous contribution.
A Bequest is a gift made through a provision in your will naming Collegiate as beneficiary. A gift of this type may reduce estate taxes. By notifying the Development Office of your gift, we will name you or your family as a member of the Speed Society. The Speed Society honors Collegiate’s founder, Virginia Perrin Speed (1879-1968) and her husband William Shallcross Speed 1873-1955).
If you have already named Collegiate as a beneficiary in your will or if you would like to include Collegiate in your will, click and print the informational card, by clicking "more" and returning it to Collegiate. If you have questions, contact Jennifer Hartlage, Director of Development, by phone (502) 479-0345 or e-mail jhartlage@loucol.com.

Louisville Collegiate School is proud to invite the community to attend "An Evening with Tori Murden McClure '81" on Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Kentucky Center's Bomhard Theater. McClure, an alumna of Collegiate, recently penned "A Pearl in the Storm," a memoir detailing her physical and emotional journey as the first woman to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean. The Smith College Club of Kentucky is a co-sponsor of the event.
McClure will be interviewed by Bob Edwards host of The Bob Edwards Show on SIRIUS XM radio and Bob Edwards Weekend on public radio stations. Carmichael's Bookstore will have copies of "A Pearl in the Storm" on sale at 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Kentucky Center, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Collegiate's Crew Program. Immediately following the interview, McClure will be on hand to sign copies of her book.
Tickets are $15 and may be purchased by calling the Kentucky Center for the Arts at (502) 584-7777 or by clicking here.

Are you or your company looking for extra help during the summer? Does your company offer an internship program?
In 2007, Collegiate established the Young Alumni Summer Job Program that matched alumni home from college during the summer with businesses and firms offering employment and internship opportunities. As a parent, graduate or friend of Collegiate, you are familiar with the preparation and character a Collegiate graduate brings to any office or job.
If you have an existing summer program or offer summer employment opportunities, please contact Ashley McIntyre at (502) 479-0375 or at a_mcintyre@loucol.com. Identifying a job or program does not commit you to hiring one of our graduates; we just ask for the opportunity to put you in contact with our alums who might be interested in strengthening their education with valuable work experience over the summer.

Louisville Collegiate School is proud to present Art in the Highlands, a community-wide event featuring 130 juried artists from across the country. The event will take place on September 19 and 20 on Collegiate’s campus at 2427 Glenmary Avenue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Art mediums represented will include watercolors, oil paintings, photography, jewelry, sculpture, pottery and much more. This weekend in Louisville has typically been met with the arrival of the Ursuline Campus Art Fair that for more than 20 years provided our city with the first festival of the fall season. With the discontinuation of this event, Collegiate will introduce a new show that will sustain the quality and tradition of the Ursuline event.
Art in the Highlands will continue the fine tradition of fall festivals in the Louisville area with food vendors, entertainment and children’s activities. Art-lovers, families and visitors from all over the Louisville area and Kentucky are welcome to attend this exciting inaugural event. For the safety of our patrons and artists, we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing pets, bicycles, skateboards and alcohol to the event. Off-site parking will be available with free shuttle service to the event.

Louisville Collegiate School's Strategic Plan has identified a fieldhouse as a priority for attracting and retaining students who choose to experience athletics as part of their world class education at Collegiate. Champion's Trace provides an excellent field for over 200 students; girls and boys, middle and upper school Soccer, Lacrosse, and Field Hockey teams. However, there are a few items woefully missing at Champion's Trace- proper bathrooms, a concession stand, storage facility, and any
covered shelter for rain protection and shade.
The Building and Ground's committee has been diligently working to design a fieldhouse that will address safety, hygiene, potable water, concession sales and the creature comforts of a proper facility (no more Port-a-Potties) at Champion's Trace. The Committee will deliver this project for under $200,000, with the necessity of running sewage and power lines to Newburg Road attributing for a bulk of the cost. Through the design process, the Committee weighed our children's safety, proximity to
the playing fields and designs/finishes that are affordable, functional, and sustain Collegiate's standards. The latest design bids will be received in the next two weeks.
The Booster Club has committed general funds and multi-year proceeds from the annual golf scramble towards this project. Additionally, the Development Committee has begun to promote community interest and corporate donations for helping to fund this facility. Combined we have secured more than $115,000 in commitments without reaching out to the greater Collegiate community. With the promise shown already through these pledges, we are confident that we can secure the remaining $85,000 funds from
within the community.
Timing on this project is critical! We need to have 100% of the pledged funds as soon as possible in order to award the bid by April, secure permitting, and be under construction this summer so we have it completed for when we all return to school in August, 2009.
Simply click "more" for more details about the building and an electronic pledge form. You can either print the pledge form and return to Jennifer Hartlage in the Development Office or respond to this email with your pledge today.
If you have any questions please contact Jennifer Hartlage (502-479-0345).
