Merit Scholars: (back) Max Burge, Will Bryant, Andrew Mattingly, and Matthew Kubicki. (front) Ayana Lowry, Sophie Miller and Kelley Walton. Not pictured: Taylor Hodge.
Over the last two years, Louisville Collegiate School has awarded eight Merit Scholar Grants to rising 8th-graders who wanted to study in our Upper School.
The alumni community can take pride in this program since alumni dues and sales from the Glenmary Shop help support a percentage of these scholarships.
The Alumni Association Board encourages all alumni to help support the Association and this program by paying their annual dues.
Additionally, if you know of any current 8th-graders in and around Louisville who are interested in high school at Collegiate, please have them contact our Admission Office. The deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008. Collegiate is looking for students with a high academic achievement, outstanding leadership skills, exceptional character and extracurricular talents. Testing for the scholarships is Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at Collegiate. For an application and to reserve a testing spot, contact
Robin Seiler at (502)
479-0395 or at robin_seiler@loucol.com. Click on "more" for an application.
Thanks to an anonymous donor in 2006, Collegiate awarded four members of the Class of 2010 partial tuition grants to help fund their high school. The 2006 Merit Scholars are sophomores Taylor Hodge, Matthew Kubicki, Andrew Mattingly and Kelley Walton.
The 2007 Collegiate Scholars, however, were awarded their half tuition grants for their four years of high school with funding from the Alumni Association, Parents Association, Collecting Dinner and Auctions and Annual Giving. These programs will continue to fund future merit scholar grants.
Members of the Class of 2011 who earned this honor are Will Bryant, Max Burge, Ayana Lowry and Sophie Miller. Ayana came from Meyzeek Middle School and Sophie came from Brown Middle School.
Please help us support this program by paying your alumni dues today.

Collegiate's 2007-2008 Annual Giving Campaign, "Creating Opportunities. Shaping Students," is inching closer to its $485,000 goal. The campaign has been a successful community-wide effort since its launch back in September on "Blue and Gold Sunday."
We are still looking for Collegiate's alums to reach their goal of $41,688.69. To date, alums have given $38,754.30. Please join the campaign and support Collegiate today by clicking on "more" to contribute to Annual Giving.
Collegiate is looking for 100 percent participation from our alumni community.
We encourage you to give at a comfortable level for you and your family.
The money raised through Annual Giving provides need-based financial assistance for qualified students, faculty salaries, facilities upkeep and programs like arts, athletics, professional development and technology. More than $1.3 million in financial aid was awarded in 2007, thereby, increasing economic, social and cultural diversity in the school.

As the funeral procession entered Cave Hill Cemetery this afternoon, the Amazons raised their hockey sticks to honor Bunch Griffin, who was a founding member of Collegiate’s historic Amazon field hockey team back in 1933.
