Chad Gajadhar
'91
 You
may not recognize this alum-nus in person, but if you are
familiar with celebrities and watch E! on cable television,
then you know his work. Chad Gajadhar '91 is a producer for
E! Networks. After graduating from American University
in 1995 with a B.A., he "worked in D.C. for a while at
the Improv Comedy Club and for a few different production
companies."
Chad says that he "I got into making
TV because I like being creative, and I like the idea of such
a mass medium reaching so many people." Now living in
Los Angeles, he "produces TV mainly for E!, but
I also do projects of my own." He describes himself as
a "very hands-on producer. So I basically do or oversee
every aspect of production. I work very closely with my associate
producer to set up the shoots during pre-production; I manage
the show budget; I go out into the field and direct the shoots
myself; I write the copy; and I act as the story editor who
creates the final product in the edit bay with an editor.
So from the time that I am assigned a show to the time I deliver
the final product, I am in charge of everything. It's a lot
of responsibility."
He says his job has "...given me the
opportunity to travel all over the planet and learn so much
about other cultures. It has allowed me to do and see some
amazing things." When asked about his favorite place
he says, "Spain has long been a favorite (dating back
to a school trip I took as a senior at Collegiate), but South
Africa is right up there, probably because I wasn't expecting
it to be as incredible a place as it is."
"I've benefited from my education at
Collegiate in all sorts of ways, but mostly it gave me a broader
view of the world and a solid educational background to better
understand it and to build on."
