Patrick Rhea Commits to Dartmouth

Congratulations to junior Patrick Rhea for committing to play lacrosse at Dartmouth University. He is among a select group of lacrosse players in the country who commit to schools in the middle of their junior year. Despite only playing the sport for three years, Patrick has displayed amazing speed and athleticism in this fast-paced game. When asked about his reasoning behind his decision to play and attend Dartmouth, Patrick noted, “I fell in love with the school the moment I stepped on campus and there was not one thing I did not like about it. After spending time with the players I was positive that Dartmouth was the place I wanted to go.” Patrick also noted his enthusiasm for the coaching staff of Dartmouth’s lacrosse program. Look for Patrick and the rest of the Titans lacrosse team to take the field at Champion’s Trace this spring!

 Around Collegiate

Have you booked your flight to destinationCOLLEGIATE?

On Saturday, February 20 you are cordially invited to attend the 2010 Collegiate Gala (formerly Collecting). The event begins at 6:00 p.m. and will be held at the Louisville Executive Aviation Hangar at Bowman Field, 2700 Gast Boulevard.

This year’s new Collegiate Gala format will offer a casual atmosphere for our community to have fun while supporting the school. With no assigned seating, the event will offer a relaxed friendly vibe designed to promote camaraderie. Dollars raised from the Gala directly benefit every Collegiate student, providing items such as athletic uniforms, classroom technology, and faculty professional development. In fact, a special faculty grants section has been added to the event to provide guests an opportunity to fund either a portion or a full grant in support of Collegiate faculty and their classrooms.

Gather your friends and purchase tickets today by clicking here or by calling Ashley McIntyre at 502.479.0375. While supporting our community and bidding on fabulous trips, paintings and sports memorabilia please consider becoming a Patron of the Gala, a contributor level offering an “elevated experience.”  Guests committing to becoming a Patron before February 1 will be recognized in the event booklet, while those committing after February 1 will be recognized during the event itself.

2C2 Taskforce
As Louisville Collegiate School approaches the celebration of its Centennial, the Board of Trustees recently formed a special task force to look ahead to the school’s next 100 years of providing a premium educational experience for the Greater Louisville community. The 2C2 (Second Century at Collegiate) Task Force is comprised of parents, past parents, students, faculty, staff, alumni and trustees. The group seeks to coordinate the interrelationships between Collegiate’s programs, people, facilities, technology and financial sustainability. Working together, this taskforce intends to develop a comprehensive direction that will lead the school into the next century by identifying innovative programs and prioritizing resources.  Opportunities will be available in the coming months for members of the Collegiate community to provide input to this visioning process.

During the kickoff meeting of the 2C2 Task Force, Kris Kimel, the founder of IdeaFestival spoke about innovation and thought diversity and inspired his audience to think big.

Box Tops for Education Contest
Our annual Box Tops collection will wrap up on Friday, February 19. Hopefully, you have been collecting Box Tops all year!  We have set a Lower School goal of 3000 Box Tops.  If each classroom collects about 180 Box Tops, we should be able to make our goal!

Dr. Rightmyer has suggested a “Special Dress Out of Uniform Day” (theme to be announced at a later date) for Lower School students if we meet our goal.  So, send those Box Tops in soon! You don’t need to count them-just send them in!  A collection box is located in the Lower School office.

Visit  http://www.boxtops4education.com/ for more information on the Box Tops for Education program. And click here to print out fun collection sheets! (These are optional)
