To officially kick off the Collegiate Homecoming Weekend, the Pep Club sponsored a campus-wide Pep Rally on Friday afternoon in the Harry S. Frazier Gym. Students were still charged from the Thursday night bonfire at Collegiate's Champions Trace athletic fields that followed the Boys' Varsity Soccer game against Holy Cross.

The Homecoming Pep Rally showcased the school mascots, a new Pep Band, and featured contests between the Lower, Middle and Upper School students.

Students cheered for the members of the Girls' and Boys' Varsity Soccer teams and the Junior Varsity and Varsity Field Hockey squads who were to compete in Saturday's Homecoming games.

On Friday night, athletes and families gathered for the Pasta Dinner .

Alan Williams was the motivational speaker at the dinner. Mr. Williams was a four-year walk-on at Wake Forest where he played only 59 minutes in four years.

He is now the author of a best-selling book, "Walk-On: Life from the End of the Bench," which outlines to all athletes and parents what it really means to be a teammate.

Mr. Williams spoke about how an athlete's social development is substantially impacted by the positive and negative experiences he or she has on the playing field. He has initiated a program called "Putting Perspective Back into Sports," which he discusses when he travels to schools like Collegiate.

    Blueandgold

The weekend concluded with our 2nd-Annual Blue and Gold Sunday Phonathon as part of Collegiate's Annual Giving campaign. The phonathon was a huge success, raising more than $80,000 for the school's Annual Giving campaign.

Nearly 100 parents, trustees, students, faculty and staff volunteered to participate in the day. We would like to thank all our volunteers and all the parents, grandparents and alums who answered their phone on Sunday and pledged to support Collegiate.

To date, more than $310,000 has been raised toward our $485,000 goal. The Development Office and its volunteers will be working very hard in the coming months to complete the campaign.

It's not too late to make your pledge. Visit the below link to support our Annual Giving campaign.
