Collegiate choir to perform at Carnegie Hall in April
Students will work with world-renown composer
Maestro John Rutter
LOUISVILLE, KY. – Louisville Collegiate
School is proud to announce that its Chamber Choir has been
invited to participate in a performance conducted by world-renown
composer and conductor, Maestro John Rutter, in historic Carnegie
Hall on Monday, April 2.
The students will spend five days in New
York City in preparation for the concert. They will join other
choruses selected from throughout North America to form a
festival chorus that will perform Rutter’s “Magnificat.”
“Our choir will spend around 10 hours
in rehearsals during the five days, which will eventually
lead to our performance at Carnegie Hall with professional
orchestra and soloists,” said Collegiate choir director
Jan Tedesco.
She said her department is seeking assistance
for some of the students’ trip, which will include visits
to the historic and cultural aspects of New York City. For
anyone who would like to help contribute to sending a singer
to Carnegie Hall, please contact Tedesco at (502) 479-0340
