The Arts Rock at Louisville Collegiate School
Students celebrate the arts in preparation for Art in the Highlands

LOUISVILLE, KY. – During the week leading up to Louisville Collegiate School’s Art in the Highlands, students from every grade level will celebrate and explore the arts in a variety of special events.

From Monday, September 14 through Wednesday, September 16, Lower School Fine Arts classes will work on mural painting, and create their own designs on “art rocks.” In addition to their regular fine arts curriculum, students will get to spend time exploring printmaking, jazz dance, flamenco dance, stage combat, collaborative poetry writing, world music and movement with Collegiate teaching artists and guest artists. A more complete schedule is enclosed.

Art in the Highlands, a community-wide event featuring 80 juried artists from across the country will take place on September 19 and 20 on Collegiate’s campus at 2427 Glenmary Avenue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Art in the Highlands will continue the fine tradition of fall festivals in the Louisville area with food vendors and entertainment. Off-site parking at Jim Porter’s located at 2345 Lexington Road will be available with free shuttle service to the event.
