Collegiate Expands Financial Assistance and Scholarship Offerings
Nearly 28% of student body currently receives school-sponsored assistance

LOUISVILLE, KY. – During a period of economic challenges, Louisville Collegiate School's Board of Trustees has taken steps to assure that the Collegiate experience is accessible to larger numbers of talented youth from across the Greater Louisville community.

Through an expansion of the school's need-based financial assistance and merit scholarship program, more than $1.7 million dollars will be available during the 2010-2011 school year for talented young people and their families to afford an exceptional education on the historic Highlands campus of Louisville's oldest JK-12 independent college-preparatory school. Currently, 630 students are enrolled at the school and nearly 28% of the student body receives some sort of school-sponsored assistance with annual tuition.

On the heels of the Board of Trustees’ decision to expand the school's financial assistance program, Head of School Scott Prince commented, “Collegiate's program has the power to transform lives, so it is only fitting in these challenging times, that the school's trustees had the vision to ensure that the school's mission touches the lives of more students by increasing accessibility.

Prince continues, “Parents realize that providing a quality education for their children is a gift that can never be taken away. Collegiate's mission-driven commitment to financial assistance and merit scholarships offers newfound hope to students and families who previously believed a Collegiate education was not possible.”

In addition to the need-based financial assistance available at every grade level, merit scholarships are available to students entering the sixth (Middle School) and ninth (Upper School) grade levels who have a demonstrated record of superior academic performance, a strong standardized testing profile, and an outstanding track record of extracurricular involvement. Students who apply to the school and participate in the merit scholarship selection process are eligible for annually renewable scholarships in the amount of 50% tuition, 25% tuition, or stipends between $1,000 and $3,000.
