Five Collegiate Students Named National
Merit Finalists
Seniors rank among nation’s brightest in national
competition
LOUISVILLE, KY. – Louisville
Collegiate School announced today the selection of five
students from the Class of 2010 who have been named
finalists in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program.
National Merit Scholars are eligible to receive monetary
support towards the cost of college tuition from the
National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Taylor Hodge, Matthew Kubicki, Andrew
Mattingly, Trevor Slaton and Kelley Walton
earn this distinct honor along with Sydney Beache
who was named a National Achievement Scholar, as part
of the National Achievement Program that recognizes
outstanding African-American students.
“We are proud to recognize the
achievement of these individuals, as they are an example
of the talented and gifted students we educate daily,”
said Head of School, Scott Prince. “Over
the last 8 years, nearly 25% of Collegiate’s graduates
have been recognized in the National Merit Scholarship
Competition.”
Collegiate students Alexa Beach,
David Bloom, Lexsa Campbell, Paul Chan Lee, Jay Reed
and Mary Nancy Walter were named Commended
Scholars in the competition.
Averaging approximately 1.4 million
entrants a year, the National Merit Scholarship Competition
recognizes students with the highest PSAT/NMSQT®
Selection Index Scores. Students are tested in areas
covering critical reading, mathematics, and writing
skills.
