Character Development

Woven into the mission of Louisville Collegiate School, four Character Cornerstones permeate the curriculum and programming of the Middle School experience.
A crucial component of the Middle School experience at Collegiate is the character cultivated in each student.  Coupled with our engaging academics, under the caring guidance of exceptional faculty and staff, Collegiate’s character development programs afford students opportunities to address self-confidence, acceptance of others, and independence.  Middle school teachers serve as role models for the practices of Respect, Honor, Compassion and Responsibility.  Collegiate middle school students are expected to learn and exemplify these qualities as they grow and develop.
Other Collegiate character development efforts include:
  • Character education courses taught by our Middle School Counselor that address topics such as: relationship development, goal setting, study skills and adolescent behavior.
  • A community service component where our Middle School students regularly contribute service to our local community each year.
  • Collegiate also organizes parent evenings, lunches, and coffees on relevant topics and special programs for students.

Honor Code

The Honor Code is one of Collegiate’s most valued traditions. Collegiate’s Honor Code serves to cultivate honesty, fairness, and high esteem for other’s work and property. The Honor Code provides Collegiate students, staff, faculty, and families a treasured community of trust.
Each year Collegiate Middle School students recommit themselves to our Honor Code and to our community of trust, renewing their pledge not to lie, cheat, or steal. Throughout the year, activities and events promote and educate our community about the Honor Code and the crucial role it plays at Collegiate.
