Distant Muse Online Writing Course
Claire Long
Grades 4-6
Grades 7-9
Writing is a process that takes practice, just like any instrument or sport.  Certain aspects of the craft can be intimidating if you are not confident with your own skills or if you have not had enough practice. This distance course offers one on one instruction and feedback with brainstorming, drafting, and revising through six writing assignments. You will work at your own pace from a detailed assignment packet, setting your own approved schedule for due dates. This course is email based, so after one meeting in-person at the start, we will communicate through phone and email. I will return a through one-page critique for each assignment, which will include strengths and areas for improvement. Sign up if you need a distant summer muse!

Global Online Academy

June 19 - August 4
Grades 9-12  $250 Collegiate Fee
$750 GOA Fee
Collegiate Students Only

Global Online Academy is a not-for-profit consortium of 50+ independent schools from around the world. Started by a group of independent schools looking to bring the benefits of online learning to their teachers and students, Global Online Academy prepares students for a global future by providing new, modern ways for students to learn and teachers to teach.

Students take Global Online Academy (GOA) courses for credit at Louisville Collegiate School and the course is reflected in the student’s schedule and transcript. GOA allows schools to expand what they offer and help students test their passions in ways typically unavailable on a single campus. The courses are interactive, instructional, and experiential. All GOA courses have asynchronous components (students participate each day on their own schedule) and synchronous components (when students collaborate together or work with their teacher, generally using video conferencing software).
